what i wrote....what i meant....

what i wrote on my website for the Haiti painting auction:

I chose the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund http://clintonbushhaitifund.org. I would LOVE to donate to a ministry but in choosing this organization i feel more secure about the money going DIRECTLY to HAITI.....and I LOVE GEORGE BUSH (to throw that in). I know that they will make sure that the supplies are actually being distributed.

what i meant by this is that the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund has more resources to get the supplies in the hands of the people. BECAUSE of the unrest and the looters, "thugs" if you will, that are stealing food and medicine from people. The organization has a bigger "presence" when they arrive and probably some serious security with them.

what i did not mean is that MINISTRIES will not get all of the money to the Haitian people or that they will use the funds for other things. this was pointed out to me by a person very close to me. i apologize to anyone who i offended. I LOVE MINISTRIES and in fact we ALL have a ministry of our own! i consider that mine is through this blog and my art!

Haiti inspired painting has begun

if you look at the earlier post to catch up. i am painting a 30" painting for an informal "auction" of sorts. i will let you know when the painting goes on the "block". the section of the verse in Lamentations that inspired the painting the most would be the part that talks about how "they will pour their hearts out to the presence of the Lord". i was on the Internet, searching Haiti and TRYING to find an upbeat beautiful picture that i felt inspired to paint. NOTHING. i was so saddened by the images that i just prayed to the Lord "help me paint something with hope" and i started painting. what is coming out, i pray, will be inspired by Him alone and will encourage others to pray for the lost, and hurting. Pray that their needs will be met physically, and then their needs will be met "spiritually". through the missionaries there to spread the word that that "Lord will not abandon you to the grave" if your heart is opened for the Holy Spirit to come in and "heal".

I will set the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand, i will not be shaken. therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. you have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
PSALM 16:8-11

these two photos are tiny sections of the painting and are "rough" but give you an idea of where i am going with it.
if you want to be included in the bidding, post your e-mail on my blog. i will send you the info.

painting for Haiti

a couple of years ago i wanted to raise some money to help a friend get back to her native Tanzania for a long visit and some mission work. her church fitted the bill for the plane ticket and i wanted to help with the other "travel" expenses. i thought to myself, [self, you can paint a few paintings and make enough to help her]. so, that is what i did. i painted some paintings of African inspiration. i had a VERY informal "e-mail auction". i e-mailed the photo's out and let the bidding begin. started each painting at $100. i think i made around 2,000 on the four paintings. SOOOOOOOO, i am going to try this again.
i have not painted the painting yet because i am praying and asking for inspiration from friends etc. on what to paint. PRAY FOR ME! i want to sell this big painting for a lot of money. to go to Haiti through a reputable organization which i am researching. here is my inspiration bible verse thanks to my DEAR of a brother in law (who married my baby sis and melts my heart)
Arise, cry out in the night,
pour out your heart like water
in the presence of the Lord.
lift up your hands to Him
for the lives of your children who faint from hunger
at the head of every street.
Lamentations 2:19

here are the four paintings that i auctioned last time. this time i am only going to do one big one.

awwwwwwww!

remembering our wedding day helps with that old spark. yes, spark! remember? actually it really just kinda makes me feel old. i don't want to feel old. new years resolution: don't feel old

HOLY TOLEDO, BATMAN!

this is the kind of suspenseful scene that had boys of all ages on edge as they watched this batman movie made sometime in the 60's. in this scene somehow batman and robin found themselves in quite a pickle! while dangling over the sea on a flexible ladder, batman tries to battle a HUGE (rubber) shark. thank goodness Robin realizes what is going on below and grabs a can of "shark repellent" and climbs down the ladder to batman..managing to do so in his green elf shoes, tights and cape. he hands batman the can which he immediately begins to SPRAY on the shark...thus releasing his grip of batman and crashing back into the water. HOLY MAN-OF-WAR BATMAN THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE!!!!!!

portrait

ok i did this "freehand" (no portrait 'tricks') before crunch was even a twinkle in our eye. SO it has been hanging over me that he is not in the "portrait" so get a good look cause it is about to be a completely different painting. i plan on converting butter to crunch and squishing a new butter in between. or, I might just start completely over. we'll see.

new painting for ellen's third boy

ellen loves her boys and each one has a painting of an angel holding a baby. like most "thirds" he almost got the shaft BUT she RALLIED for this painting "OH SWEET HUSBAND, this baby can't be the ONLY one that does not have a painting! how will that make him feel? we HAVE to get him a painting so he can feel JUST as important as the others!"
well, ellen won. she got her painting. and here it is!

life is not easy. not really intended to be.

our "community group" from church met tonight as it does on sunday nights to fellowship, share a meal, discuss the sermon and pray for one another. a smaller group tonight meant more time to really share what had been going on over the holidays and what needed prayer. we found ourselves in a discussion about being CONTENT IN THE "NOW". we kinda all had the same revelation that when you finally GET what you have been waiting for and wanting...you are left wanting MORE. it is the "if/then complex" we have called it. IF i can just get the job i want THEN i can be happy...."If i can JUST live in the house that i want THEN i will be good to GO!"...........
Of course tonight we correlate just about ANYthing we were talking about to Colt Mccoy's unfortunate injury. you KNOW...the one that in one "blip" and "crash" of his shoulder that took him out of the GAME OF HIS LIFE in the national championship game thursday in Pasadena. if you don't know what i am talking about, you live under a rock. BUT of course living in ALABAMA it seems to be ALL we have talked about for these few days since Texas lost to Alabama....bla bla not the point. the POINT is COLT, this young man/quarterback was obviously devastated when he injured his shoulder in the 1st quarter. ALL he had worked for, gone. in a blip. but do you know what this kid does? he proclaims the gospel and a congratulates Alabama. OH, he holds back the tears (because he has seen what the media has done to poor Tim Tebow after crying on national television) and says that his shoulder is "dead"...no feeling in it. still, someone writes on my facebook "colt mccoy might be a nice guy but he let his team down". ONLY one of the millions of negative comments that he will and has gotten i am sure. but I want you to be the judge as i link a clip of his interview. CLICK ON POST TITLE ABOVE TO SEE INTERVIEW
His HOPE is on the ROCK.....The Lord Jesus. and with or without a throwing arm he will never be left feeling like "what now, i have Jesus..I need more" he has the ONLY thing in life that does not ever leave or forsake you. ONLY if you have asked the Lord into your heart. no "if/then complex"... "if i win the national championship THEN i will be happy." guess what guys, and fans...you will be happy for a while but what THEN? you can only "WOOO HOOOO...ROLLLLLL TIDE about it for so long. either someone is going to tell you to shut up or little by little the high will wear off. THEN WHAT? IF Saban can pull it off again...then you will be the happiest EVER EVER....? it is endless and you can't take it with you. on your deathbed who do you want there with you SABAN or JESUS? wait...don't answer that.

a friend like this

i am not going to let my laundry get like this EVER AGAIN!!! my friend brook had to rescue me! she is a great friend and i am always amazed at her willingness to serve others.

winter storm 2010

ok so it flurried like crazy today. the kids got all excited. in fact, they were in a total panic when they got home from school (dismissed early!) to run around in the flurries (that did not even think of sticking!) "i can't find my other glove...MOM, i can't EVER find any matching gloves! hurry! we are going to go play in the SNOW!" Peanut actually CRIED because of her stinkin glove and by the time they all looked like "Ralfie" on "a christmas story". they each had on two jackets, and boots and hats and glove..s... they headed out to the trampoline to jump in the "snow" and returned only to say that it was too cold and they just wanted to watch a movie.

meanwhile...between the bread and milk frenzied folks and the ones preparing for their "national championship" parties i feel sure the grocery stores had the biggest financial day of the year. now, here in the south land we sit, disappointed in our stinky "snow day". with PLENTY of bread and milk and a bunch of "woo hooing" Bama fans!

hoping for snow

maybe my little red bird will come back for a visit!
