reb loves the fire

yess you dooo yess you doooooo!

THANK GOODNESS we had bread!

the BIG MONSTROUS snow storm of 2011 provided no school and an icy snowy mix everywhere. perfect for sledding! we had a ball. fire in the fireplace. house full of snow puddles and wet gloves thrown in the dryer. a walk to a neighbor's house for delicious spice tea and great conversation. a snow football game to get the boys warmed up for the national championship game. ps. in the south a toboggan is a hat and a sled is a sled. we tried to use a cookie sheet to sled in the early am. this did not go great.
we had a busy, fun day. those are the days you remember forever. here are a few pics.

of my many colored days

some days are sad. i don't know why.
a cloud over my head hangs in the sky
the sun is out but i can't feel it's rays
because the darkness sometimes stays
nothing i have said or done. nothing to do
i just flat out am feeling blue
this is not to be taken light
to hide for another night
my friend prays a prayer for me
that through the darkness i can see
i am loved...especially by HIM
and though hope feels often slim

this too will pass i know this to be true
my dark sky will again be blue

dealing with occasional depression is super stinky. it feels like a weight sitting on your head. i share the poem above to HELP ANYONE feeling this way. through prayer and sometimes a doctor it is easily maintained. talk to someone, don't be ashamed. i am one of the most chipper people in the world and i battle this at times. don't let the darkness fool you. don't let it envelope you. get help. doctor, pastor, friend....or all of the above.

a bald trick. my alopecia areata is acting up!

so, i have lost a good amount of hair on one side of my head. luckily there is hair that falls over it. BUT that hair is getting thin itself. here is a pictorial diary of how i handle this setback:

seems normal. BUT, if the wind blows, or if i tuck my hair behind my ears you can see baldness.

yikes! i know, it is freaky.

i found this on the internet and it is like an eyeshadow for your scalp.

(mine has been used A LOT)you are supposed to pick a color that is as dark as your roots and use the applicator

creating a "shadow" under my thin hair makes my scalp not as noticeable.

now i can even tuck my hair behind my ear!

our trip to madison! COUSINS REUNITE!!

we went to visit my sister's family in madison, mississippi. this might be one of the cutest, nicest places in mississippi! we loved it. the town is so clean, and friendly. there is something going on all the time in their neighborhood. it is winter so not that many people were out and about but we enjoyed outside activities just the same! they have horse stables in the neighborhood and we enjoyed visiting the horses. we went to chic-fil-a and found out it is the number one chic-fil-a in the country (for breakfast). the kids rode on riding toys without fear of traffic until crunch ran into the neighbor's bushes. we made cookies, refereed the kids and played the wii. we went to the thrift store and i found an ole miss ashworth golf shirt for bert (score!). OH, and MOST importantly peanut and my niece got their ears pierced! here are some pics from the weekend.
